Interferon/DNA Vaccine Provides Protection In Woodchuck Model

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Using DNA vaccine technology, scientists in Germany have created a vaccine that raises an effective immune response against woodchuck hepatitis virus. The same type of therapy, which incorporates interferon (IFN)-gamma to boost vaccine effectiveness, might be therapeutically advantageous for humans with viral hepatitis.

"DNA vaccinations are able to induce strong cellular immune responses in mice and confer protection against infectious agents.
