Laparoscopic Ultrasound Superior For Evaluating Primary Liver Cancer

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Laparoscopy with laparoscopic ultrasound (L-LUS) is superior to other imaging methods for evaluating lesions in patients with liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, or primary liver cancer, medical researchers in Italy report.

After examining 70 patients with liver cirrhosis, researchers at San Paolo Hospital in Milan, Italy, concluded L-LUS is better than conventional computed tomography (CT) imaging for locating and evaluating liver lesions.
