Medical Injections A Primary Source Of Hepatitis C In Taiwan Cities

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - A series of epidemiological investigations of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in several townships in Taiwan has revealed medical injections are a primary mode of transmission among those populations.

The prevalence, or endemicity of HCV is high among some populations in Taiwan. Epidemiologists at the National Defense Medical Center's School of Public Health in Taipei, Taiwan, have performed analyses for understanding why HCV infection rates remain high in some regions. Their data suggest HCV transmissions could be controlled through the institution of better medical practices.
