The report estimates that there are more than 33,000 adults ages 15-59 currently living with HIV in the U.K. This is a 10% increase over the estimate for the end of 1998. In part, this reflects the success of life-prolonging treatments for those with a diagnosed infection. Around one third are unaware of their infection.
