HIV And Hepatitis Rates In The United Kingdom Published

The Department of Health of the United Kingdom published the latest (2001) figures on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis prevalence in that country recently.

The report estimates that there are more than 33,000 adults ages 15-59 currently living with HIV in the U.K. This is a 10% increase over the estimate for the end of 1998. In part, this reflects the success of life-prolonging treatments for those with a diagnosed infection. Around one third are unaware of their infection.
