Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune illness wherein the body's own defense mechanisms attack connective tissues, especially those within the joints. Since hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine is suggested to play a role in stimulating autoimmune illness, O. Elkayam and coworkers at the University of Tel Aviv in Israel undertook a limited study investigating its impact in 44 patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
