Methadone weaning not required before liver transplantation

For some, the problem of excessive alcohol consumption or injection drug use often walks hand in hand with the risk for the formation of extensive liver disease necessitating liver transplantation. Patients who abuse injection drugs, as well as those who abuse alcohol, are often required to undergo rehabilitation before they can be placed on lists as serious contenders for receiving liver transplantations.
