Cobas Amplicor HCV Monitor assay (Ver2.0) compared with Version 1.0

A recent study compared the Amplicor HCV Monitor version 1.0 assay with the newer version, Cobas Amplicor HCV Monitor version 2.0 assay, and the HCV core protein assay for clinical usefulness in hepatitis C-infected patients prior to interferon treatment.

Version 2.0 is semiautomated and modified to amplify all genotypes equally.

"The quantitation of serum levels of hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA in chronic hepatitis C has been regarded as one of the most important indicators for the outcome of interferon (IFN) therapy," wrote S. Kawai and colleagues, Chiba University.
