Patients who undergo surgery for HCV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) typically undergo a battery of tests at follow-up to check for recurrent liver dysfunction, or hepatitis. One of those tests is for alanine aminotransferase (ALT), an enzyme associated liver disorder.
