Interferon-alpha stops the formation of liver cancer in animal models

According to a study from Japan, "interferon (IFN)-alpha treatment is a common therapy for chronic viral hepatitis and contributes to preventing hepatocarcinogenesis. However, it is not clear whether IFN-alpha directly inhibits the clonal expansion of pre-neoplastic hepatocytes.
