Indomethacin reduces intracranial pressure in ALF patients

Indomethacin can be used to reduce intracranial pressure (ICP) during acute liver failure (ALF).

Uncontrolled ICP elevation "continues to be one of the most significant causes of early death" in ALF patients, scientists in Denmark explained.

In a recent study, F. Tofteng and colleagues at the University of Copenhagen "aimed to determine the effects of indomethacin on ICP and cerebral perfusion pressure in 12 patients with ALF and brain edema (9 females/3 males, median age 49.5 (range 21 to 64) yrs.)."
