Angiogenic markers are among factors that can predict liver cancer recurrence.

"Molecular markers (biomarkers) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) metastasis and recurrence could provide additional information to that gained from traditional histopathological features. A large number of biomarkers have been shown to have potential predictive significance. One important aspect of this is to detect the transcripts of tumor-associated antigens (such as alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), melanoma-associated antigens (MAGEs), and CK19), which are proposed as predictive markers of HCC cells disseminated into the circulation and for metastatic recurrence," scientists writing in the...
