Genes with prognostic value in hepatocellular carcinoma identified

Gene expression patterns with prognostic value in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been identified.

According to researchers in the United States, the "heterogeneous nature" of human HCC "has hampered both treatment and prognostic predictions."

In a study conducted by J.S. Lee and coauthors at the National Cancer Institute, "[g]ene expression profiles of human HCC were analyzed to define the molecular characteristics of the tumors and to test the prognostic value of the expression profiles."
