According to recent research published in the American Journal of Transplantation, "use of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive donors for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) causes serious hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related liver morbidity and mortality in the recipient."
