Studies add new findings to chronic hepatitis c body of knowledge

New findings from Japan describe advances in chronic hepatitis c.

Study 1: Combined therapy improves ALT levels in patients with hepatitis C genotype 1.

"The possibility of delaying progression to hepatocellular carcinoma in chronic hepatitis C patients with genotype 1 and high viral titers with baseline alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels of {{>=}}50 IU/L was examined by administration of interferon (IFN) plus ribavirin combination therapy using ALT normalization as index and IFN monotherapy as control," scientists in Japan report.
