Reports add new data to cancer prevention research

Data on cancer prevention are outlined in reports from Japan and Italy.

Study 1: Long-term interferon (IFN) therapy for chronic hepatitis C prevents liver cancer.

"Effect of IFN therapy for refractory chronic hepatitis C is not sufficient. For patients with persistent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, one of the clinical goals is prevention of progression to liver cirrhosis (LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)," scientists in Japan report.
