Mutations in mouse hepatitis virus protein binding element influence RNA replication

A recent study from the United States has reported on the effect of mutations in the mouse hepatitis virus (MHV) 3'(+)42 protein binding element on RNA replication.

"The MHV genome's 3' untranslated region contains cis-acting sequences necessary for replication. Studies of MHV and other coronaviruses have indicated a role for RNA secondary and tertiary elements in replication," wrote R.F. Johnson and colleagues, Texas A&M University.
