Laparoscopic gastric bypass is safe after orthotopic liver transplantation

According to recently published research from the United States, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is safe and feasible after orthotopic liver transplantation.

"Liver transplantation has become a life-saving procedure for patients with end-stage liver disease. Since obesity is rampant in our society, it is not surprising that patients with a liver transplant suffer from obesity as well," wrote D.S. Tichansky and colleagues, University of Tennessee.
