Study 1: According to recently published research from Japan, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) develop during extended valproic acid use.
"We report a case of HCC arising in NASH. The patient, a 64-year-old man, was incidentally found to have multiple tumors in the liver when admitted for pneumonia," wrote K. Sato and colleagues, Kanazawa Medical University.
