Mixed cryoglobulinemia is characterized by higher hepatitis C virus load

Recent research from Italy published in the journal Clinical and Experimental Immunology has chronicled the virological analysis and phenotypic characterization of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) of hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patients with and without mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC).

"In clinical and pathological terms HCV-infected patients can be subdivided into two main groups: with and without MC. Involvement of blood mononuclear cells by HCV has potentially important implications."
