Studies from Canada, the United States and Germany add new findings to hepatitis C virus body of knowledge

New findings from Canada, the United States and Germany describe advances in hepatitis C virus.

Study 1: According to research from Canada, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) alpha antagonism inhibits hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication.

"HCV is a global health problem and a leading cause of liver disease. Here, we demonstrate that the replication of HCV replicon RNA in Huh-7 cells is inhibited by a PPAR antagonist, 2-chloro-5-nitro-N-(pyridyl) benzamide (BA)," wrote B. Rakic and colleagues, National Research Council of Canada.
