Study 1: According to recently published research from the United States, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be successfully embolized with yttrium-90 glass microspheres prior to liver transplantation.
"We report a case of a patient with end-stage liver disease secondary to hepatitis C, complicated by a large HCC. Because of the size of the tumor exceeded the Milan criteria, he was not a candidate for liver transplantation," wrote D.Y. Kim and colleagues, Henry Ford Hospital.
