HBV replication is inhibited by esiRNA more than by synthesized siRNAs

According to recently published research from the People's Republic of China, hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication is inhibited by endoribonuclease-prepared siRNAs (esiRNAs) more efficiently than synthesized siRNAs.

"RNA interference (RNAi) has been proved to be a promising strategy to combat HBV infection by way of cell culture and animal model studies. In this work, esiRNAs targeting all of the four open reading frames (ORFs) of HBV genome were prepared," wrote B.Q. Xuan and colleagues, Fudan University.
