DNA-encoding hepatitis B virus core antigen enhances CD8 T cell longevity

In a recent report published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology, researchers in the People's Republic of China documented that coimmunization with interleukin-15 (IL-15) plasmid enhances the longevity of CD8 T cells induced by DNA encoding hepatitis B virus core antigen.

W. Zhang and colleagues, Fudan University, wrote that the study was done "to test the feasibility of delivering a plasmid encoding IL-15 as a DNA vaccine adjuvant for improving the immune responses induced by hepatitis B virus core gene DNA vaccine."
