Recent findings from Italy, Switzerland and France illuminate research in hepatitis C virus

Study 1: A study from Italy has documented the effects of interferon plus ribavirin treatment on nuclear-factor kB (NF-kappa B), transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-beta 1), and metalloproteinase activity in chronic hepatitis C.
"Little is known about the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of anti-viral therapy on the regression of liver inflammation and fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C," wrote M. Guido and colleagues, University of Verona.
