Research on hepatitis B virus in children discussed by scientists at Institute of Infectious Disease

A new study, "Increased infiltration of intrahepatic DC subsets closely correlate with viral control and liver injury in immune active pediatric patients with chronic hepatitis B," is now available. According to recent research published in the journal Clinical Immunology, "The roles of functionally impaired dendritic cells (DCs) in natural history of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) are unknown. We therefore characterized circulating DC subsets in 15 immune tolerant (IT) and 31 immune active (IA) HBV-infected children."
