Research on hepatitis B virus epidemiology detailed by scientists at University of Queensland

New investigation results, "Hepatitis B virus translocates across a trophoblastic barrier," are detailed in a study published in The Journal of Virology. "Mother-infant transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) accounts for up to 30% of worldwide chronic infections. The mechanism and high-risk period of HBV transmission from mother to infant are unknown," scientists writing in the Journal of Virology report.
