Research results from Columbia University, Department of Environmental Health Sciences update knowledge of hepatocellular cancer risk factors

New research, "Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon- and aflatoxin-albumin adducts, hepatitis B virus infection and hepatocellular carcinoma in Taiwan," is the subject of a report. In this recent report published in the journal Cancer Letters, researchers in the United States conducted a study "To determine the association between polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) exposure and risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, a case-control study nested within a community-based cohort was conducted in Taiwan. Baseline blood samples, collected from a total of 174 HCC cases and 776 matched controls, were used to determine the level of PAH-albumin adducts by competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent...
