New hepatitis B virus study findings have been published by X.Q. Zhang and colleagues

New investigation results, 'Susceptibility to active decompensated cirrhosis is associated with polymorphisms of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in chronic HBV carriers,' are detailed in a study published in Journal of Viral Hepatitis. According to recent research from Chongqing, People's Republic of China, "Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of viral hepatitis B. Several inflammatory diseases are associated with distinct polymorphisms of the ICAM-1 gene."
