Bill offered to reform Medicare prescription law

U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln has co-sponsored a bill that ensures no additional costs for providing a new Medicare prescription drug benefit over the next 10 years.

Lincoln, along with U.S. Senator Kent Conrad, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, added the bill on April 22, 2004, to a growing number of plans intended to reform the Medicare reform law passed by Congress in December.

Lincoln, D-Arkansas, and Conrad, D-North Dakota, believe their effort will be more comprehensive than about two dozen other offerings that focus on specific aspects of the Medicare law. They also believe it is more cost-conscious than a large response bill...
