Studies from Cincinnati Children's Hospital have provided new data on surgery

"Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is commonly used to treat anterior knee instability. Interference screws are considered a safe and effective device for graft fixation in surgical ACL reconstruction," scientists in the United States report.

"Poly-L-lactide acid (PLLA) bioabsorbable interference screws are becoming increasingly popular in ACL reconstruction surgery. We report a case of extra-articular extraosseous migration of a PLLA bioabsorbable femoral interference screw into the posterolateral aspect of the thigh following ACL reconstruction.
