South Carolina woman arrested in hospital fraud

A guard at Richland County jail in Columbia, South Carolina, has been suspended after she was indicted on charges of defrauding Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital out of $208,000, U.S. Attorney J. Strom Thurmond Jr. says.

Marcie Dorsett, 35, and 40 others were charged by a grand jury in a 10-count federal indictment with mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

Federal prosecutors say the leader of the embezzlement ring was Sterling Motley, who recruited others to falsely claim they were temporary workers at the hospital.
