Heart Failure Therapy

Research from Wake Forest University, University Health Science Center has provided new information about heart failure therapy

Fresh data on heart failure are presented in the report "Diastolic heart failure in the elderly. Most elderly patients, particularly women, who have heart failure have a normal ejection fraction. Patients who have this syndrome have severe symptoms of exercise intolerance, frequent hospitalizations, and increased mortality," investigators in the United States report.

"The pathophysiology and treatment are not well defined. Control of systemic hypertension may be a key to prevention and treatment," wrote D.W. Kitzman and colleagues, Wake Forest University, University Health Science Center.
