According to recent research published in the Journal of Trauma - Injury Infection and Critical Care, "Medical malpractice has been noted to play an important role in physicians' decisions to pursue or remain in certain presumed high-risk specialties such as trauma surgery, despite little evidence suggesting an elevated malpractice risk. The objective of this study was to compare the malpractice experience for trauma care and other medical and surgical specialties at an academic medical center."
