Community Health Systems, Inc. Announces First Quarter 2009 Results with Net Operating Revenues of $2.9 Billion

Net operating revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2009, totaled $2.892 billion, a 7.6 percent increase compared with $2.689 billion for the same period in 2008. Income from continuing operations increased to $71.1 million, or $0.63 per share (diluted), on 90.9 million weighted average shares outstanding for the three months ended March 31, 2009, compared with $59.1 million, or $0.52 per share (diluted), on 95.0 million weighted average shares outstanding for the same period in 2008.
