Protein with key role in cytokinesis is regulated by p53

Protein regulator of cytokinesis 1 (PRC1) is regulated by p53, which suggests that p53 may play a novel role in cytokinesis.

Previous studies "conducted in MCF7-ptsp53 cells have demonstrated that overexpression of the wild-type (wt) p53 at permissive temperature 32 degrees C leads to growth arrest at the G2 /M phase of the cell cycle," scientists in California explained.

"To identify novel p53-regulated genes that are responsible for the p53-induced G2 /M arrest," C. Li and coauthors at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System performed a series of "cDNA microarray analyses."
