According to a study from Copenhagen, Denmark, "Post-mortern diagnosis of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies(prion diseases) is primarily based on the detection of a protease resistant, misfolded disease associated isoform (PrPSc) of the prion protein (PrPC) on neuronal cells.
