Biotech firm reports 26% increase in earnings

Amgen, Inc., (AMGN) announced that adjusted earnings per share for the fourth quarter of 2004 were $0.58 versus $0.46 during the fourth quarter of 2003, an increase of 26%.

Adjusted net income was $749 million in the fourth quarter of 2004 versus $615 million in 2003, a 22% increase. Full year 2004 adjusted earnings per share were $2.40 versus $1.90 in 2003, a 26% increase. Full year 2004 adjusted net income was $3.1 billion versus $2.5 billion in 2003, a 24% increase.

For 2005, the company expects total revenue growth to be in the high single-digits to low teens range. Adjusted earnings per share are expected to be in the range of $2.70 to $2.85....
