ALI/ARDS after lung resection linked to high mortality in patients requiring mechanical ventilation

Researchers found that acute lung injury (ALI) and ARDS after lung resection were associated with a high mortality in patients who require invasive mechanical ventilation (MV) and ICU care.

According to a recent report published in the journal Chest, researchers in the United States conducted a study "to describe the frequency and outcome of patients with ALI and ARDS who require MV after lung resection, and to analyze preoperative and perioperative variables associated with mortality."
