Analysis shows maintenance therapy with Remicade sustains healing in Crohn patients

A new retrospective long-term analysis demonstrates that maintenance therapy with Remicade (infliximab) results in greater sustained mucosal healing and a lower number of surgeries in patients with active Crohn disease (CD) compared to patients treated episodically.

At the first endoscopic evaluation, nearly half of patients who received maintenance therapy of Remicade every 8 weeks experienced complete healing, compared to only 37% of patients who were treated episodically. Additionally, complete healing in the maintenance therapy group was experienced long-term by more than half of patients after a median follow-up of 54 weeks, while no patients treated episodically...
