AmericsourceBergen Corp. looks to aging America for growth

Getting older' Pennsylvania's top Fortune 500 company is counting on it.

That is one trend AmerisourceBergen Corp., the third-largest U.S. drug wholesaler, says will get its profits back to double-digit growth after the loss of a major contract last week.

Big spending by pharmaceutical companies to put new drugs on the market, and new Medicare drug benefits, will help restore the national drug distributor's growth rate, said Michael Kilpatric, an Amerisource Bergen vice president.

But the main growth source is the aging of America, with baby boomers about to enter a new kind of 60s, antiquated instead of Aquarian and dependent...
