Few Oklahoma seniors apply for card

Only 1 in 10 Oklahoma seniors has applied for Medicare's new prescription discount cards, according to the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Gerontology Institute. Confusion over the program and recommendations that seniors window-shop before choosing a card has limited the number of people in the program in Oklahoma and nationwide. "I wonder if they could have written the law to be more confusing'" asked Marca Davis, OSU Gerontology Institute project coordinator. Davis, who is conducting statewide forums on the Medicare card, said at best, 10% of 450,000 Oklahomans eligible for Medicare have signed up for the drug-discount card...
