Wyoming advocacy group sues state over treatment of mentally ill patients

A Wyoming advocacy group on January 10, 2005, filed a federal lawsuit against the state, alleging that health officials have not followed through on a 2002 settlement to improve conditions for mentally ill patients.

The state has failed to "provide and maintain appropriate facilities, staffing, training, supervision and services at the Wyoming State Hospital so as not to endanger patients," according to the 32-page complaint filed by Protection & Advocacy System Inc. in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne.
