Trial of melanin-stimulating topical fomulation EPT1647 begins in London

Epitan Limited (EPT), Melbourne, Australia, announced the commencement of a clinical trial in London, UK, to test a newly developed topical (spray on lotion) formulation for its melanin-inducing drug EPT1647 (formerly Melanotan). The first volunteers were recruited this week to receive their first dose of EPT1647.

Melanotan, according to the company's web site, stimulates the body to make melanin, which causes a tan and is known to protect the body from skin damage as a result of sunburn, a known prime cause of skin cancer. In short, Melanotan, induces a protective tan without exposure to UV radiation.
