Apolipoprotein A-IV attenuates oxidant-induced apoptosis

According to a study from the United States, apolipoprotein (Apo) A-IV attenuates oxidant-induced apoptosis in mitotic competent, undifferentiated cells by modulating intracellular glutathione redox balance.

"Oxidant-mediated modulation of the intracellular redox state affects the apoptotic cascade by altering the balance between cellular signals for survival and suicide. Apo A-IV is known to possess antioxidant-like activity."
