SpectraCell, a Houston, Texas-based clinical laboratory founded in 1993 by William (Chip) Stanberry, its chairman and CEO, conducts nutritional testing. Lipid Labs, a start-up clinical laboratory, specializes in advanced testing for cholesterol, or lipid particles. The company utilizes a patented ultracentrifugation technology invented at Texas A&M University and further developed by Jan Troup, the company's founder, who has joined SpectraCell's scientific staff.
