"Behavioural sensitization to amphetamine (AMPH) requires action of the drug in the ventral midbrain where dopamine (DA) neurons are located. In vivo studies suggest that AMPH sensitization requires enhanced expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the nucleus of midbrain astrocytes.
