Oral cancer metastases detected by F-18-FDG PET/CT

Metastases in oral cancer patients with clinically and radiographically negative necks (NO) could be detected by F-18-FDG PET/CT, therefore surgical management should not be based on PET/CT findings alone.

According to recent research from the United States, "F-18-FDG PET has a high accuracy in staging head and neck cancer, but its role in patients with clinically and radiographically negative necks (NO) is less clear.
