National Report Ranks Minnesota 12th in Protecting Kids from Tobacco

Minnesota ranks 12th in the nation in funding programs to protect kids from tobacco, according to a national report released by a coalition of public health organizations. Minnesota currently spends $22.1 million a year on tobacco prevention programs, which is 77.2 percent of the minimum amount of $28.6 million recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Last year, Minnesota ranked 11th, spending $21.7 million on tobacco prevention.
