Population Group Criticizes California Senate Appeals to Governor for Help

Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) President Diana Hull criticized action taken by a state senate committee on Thursday supporting legislation that would prohibit the state of California and cities and counties from using an electronic employment verification system known as E-Verify.

E-Verify (formerly the Basic Pilot/Employment Eligibility Verification Program) is an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration that allows employers to check the work status of new hires online by comparing information from an employee's I-9 form against SSA and DHS databases.
