Alcon's Second Quarter Sales Rise 17.9 Percent; Net Earnings Increase 26.3 Percent

Alcon, Inc. (NYSE:ACL) reported global sales of $1,735.2 million for the second quarter of 2008, an increase of 17.9 percent compared to the second quarter of 2007, or 11.2 percent excluding the impact of foreign exchange fluctuations. Net earnings for the second quarter of 2008 increased 26.3 percent to $566.4 million, or $1.88 per share on a diluted basis, compared to $448.4 million, or $1.48 per share for the second quarter of 2007.
